That signature scowl... (by me!)
Human Briar & Berry (by me!)
[TW's for backstory: mention of birth/stillbirth]Briarsplash was found by ShadowClan when she stumbled into their camp one day around 14 moons old, exhausted and malnourished. Unbeknownst to anyone, she'd just birthed a stillborn kit hours prior, one that had overgrown and starved in her womb. To this day, she has still never told anyone about this, preferring to keep her secrets close to her heart. She'd collapsed in ShadowClan territory as soon as she'd found the group of forest cats she'd always heard about, knowing they were her last chance of survival before she'd blacked out.Taking pity on the young cat (and seeing promise in her potential), ShadowClan took her into the fold and trained her as a warrior apprentice. At the time, she had no name, having grown up as an abandoned rogue her whole life. So she was given the prefix Briar- due to her beautiful but powerful appearance, as well as the prickly attitude that resided below the surface, like the thorny plant. She was determined to prove herself, fighting to quickly complete her training and prove herself as a member of ShadowClan despite her origins. She found a home there, a place to belong. When the time came for her hard-won warrior ceremony, Briarpaw was given the suffix -splash due to the colorful, splashy nature of her dilute tortoiseshell coat.Briarsplash was eventually promoted to Enforcer. This felt like a new leaf to her, her hard work and belonging to the Clan finally being recognized. Now in a position of (some) power, she feels like her life is finally falling into place... for now. Even as the Clan dealt with threats like snakes and rats (earning a scar for that one) and a raid by ThunderClan, Briar had never found more fulfillment than serving the Clan that'd saved her.Nowadays, Briarsplash still maintains her drive to make her Clan see how useful and strong she can be while still being her angsty self (fitting that she stumbled into ShadowClan, of all places). Due to reasons she certainly wouldn't go into, she is very sensitive to rejection and others taking advantage of her; because of this she strives to make sure she won't be doubted nor overpowered ever again (well, as much as she can help it). You can often find her trying to shape up her apprentices into fit warriors or doing many things to prove her worth to the Clan. While she'd never want to admit it, she craves intimacy and closensess of friendship (and perhaps something more, someday).Perhaps someone can break through the hardened shell one day...
POSITIVE
HILLSTRIDER - "Uh... what? Why are you looking at me like that? He's just... a friendly guy, alright? So what if he's always around? Look, we've just gone on patrol a lot and he seems to think that's an excuse to keep chatting. I don't really care, or mind, it's just... whatever. And he likes squirrels as if he were a Thunderrat, the mouse-brain. Heh. His personality isn't really... what I'm used to, but it's fine; he's a capable warrior and sort of foolishly brave. I can respect it. He can be annoying, even if he means well, with that bright orange fur, and... those golden eyes... and a smile like the sun—... (ahem). Is it feeling warm over here? I'm just gonna go... in the shade... and pretend this didn't happen."
ROOKFIRE - "I wouldn't exactly call us friends, but not... not friends, either? I don't give a hoot about labelling this crap. Look, he's a capable warrior 'n I don't think he's deserved the flack he's caught. So long as he keeps his head sane 'n does his job, we get along fine. And he's not half bad to talk to — at least he doesn't yap my ear off. I've grown to respect him and his dedication — think it serves as an example, especially since he used to be in FishClan."
OWLTHROAT - "He's a good, strong warrior — and really knows how to fight. I think he deserves to be in the Enforcers more than half the Clan. One look at him, and the other Clans won't want to mess with us. Heck of a brute, but a smart one, too. I can count on him to help out with the Clan and its defense, and its good to see."
NEWTBELLY - "Y'know, his place in the Enforcers has grown on me. I was never against the guy — didn't really know much about him. But he can really scrap, and puts everything into it. Plus, he's always helping around events and camp, and its training/defense. I respect it, and think he's earned his way here. Does more than most of these lazy dormice."
WISPYFLAME - "I think me 'n her have reached some sort of agreement. She can give as much as she can take, and her bite makes you rethink ever doubting her just 'cause she can't see. I respect that. She didn't want me to go easy on her to get those last few warrior requirements, and so I didn't. Honestly, she's more competent then some of the mouse-brains who are warriors. I wouldn't say it aloud, but I'm interested to see what she does. Don't tell her I said this, but I could see her becoming an Enforcer someday."
DAWNSTAR - "Pretty sure she likes me, if I've been kept on the team this long. Getting promoted was a surprise, if I'm honest, but I'm quite proud of her noticing all my efforts. So long as I'm in the elite ranks, I'm not letting her second-guess my worth or my loyalty. If she trusts me as an Enforcer, I'm proving her right. She's sort of everything I'd wanna be, anyway — who ever wants to mess with her? I'm proud to call her a leader, a true strong one against the other Clans' shivering shrews, and I'd follow her anywhere. Just say the word."
MISTLEWHISKER - "I respect her a lot, and I think she thinks highly of me? I dunno, we don't talk like that. But she's always assigning me to patrols, even ones that make up for others' slack, so at least she thinks I'm competent. I do have a theory that she secretly despises me, however, because she keeps assigning me to patrols with Hillstrider. Doesn't she know the guy is already a burr in my pelt!? I swear I see can feel her grinning to herself whenever I turn around. What, is it some sort of test? TELL ME! Uh... sorry. (cough). I just feel like she knows things she won't tell."
SLEEPYSUNRISE - "Y'know, sometimes medicine cats freak me out. They know far too much about things most of us are clueless in. I'd like to say that Sleepysunrise isn't in the category of that, given that she's our Clan's medicine cat — but those eyes, man. I dunno. I think she likes me, because she's asked me to be her designated body guard, like, twice... or maybe she just wants to test me. At least she thinks I'm capable, I guess. I knew her as an Enforcer first, and she worked well enough like that, so I'm not complaining. And I'm just gonna pretend to forget the one incident where I swore I saw some kit rising from the grave while I was out with her, and... I will be laying off the late-night snacks that probably induced those hallucinations. Never again."
NEUTRAL
HAZYCRY - "Was my first apprentice, till she went dark on me. Thought maybe I screwed something up, but I guess she just got bored 'n went to others for training. Whatever. But she made it to warrior, so good for her. Still, that little stunt she pulled with her blindness after getting her sight back... didn't know if I was more impressed or annoyed at first. But at this point? Whatever. She came up 'n apologized to me for all her flakiness in the past, and I gotta admit that it felt good to hear. Least I know I didn't fail the Clan or her. She didn't earn the Enforcer spot when she challenged Newtbelly, but I think she's got potential. So long as she keeps her head on her shoulders... which I doubt."
GOLDENPANTHER (BLEEDINGPAW) - "Well, he's a good kid, I 'spose. Didn't really think I was gonna be able to handle all his energy at first, but he's grown on me. Has a few... strange capabilities, to say the least, 'n it kinda freaks me out. But he's more clever than I gave him credit for, figuring out all these ways to work around his condition. I don't know much about it, but he clearly does — and if it works? It works. He got to becoming a warrior and honestly, I was pretty proud. He's earned it.
EELPAW - "Just started trainin' the kid, so I don't have much to say yet. I just hope he doesn't go dark on me, or disappoint. Still, he's a brand new 'paw, so at least there's something to work with. If I can make 'em into a warrior worthy of ShadowClan, I consider it a success."
MIDNIGHTSUN - "Y'know, I haven't seen him in awhile, now that you mention it. He's... an... odd one. Always lookin' at me weird, and talking as if he's dragging out words. I don't really get it. He asked me to hunt with him one time, turned him down, and haven't really seen him since. Eh... I don't mind. I've got my paws full with Hillstrider always coming up to me anyway."
SCORPIONPAW - "A rambunctionous little thing, and a Dawnspawn. Asked me to take her battle training, and honestly, she did better than I thought. I had sort of high expectations for one of Dawnstar's litter, but it seems like she might be as fierce as her mother someday, sharing more than just her looks. Ha. Guess we'll see. Her energy's a little... much, but it seems that Rookfire can keep her in line, so I'll let him handle that."
NEGATIVE
[UNNAMED ROGUE] - "Scum. No, worse than scum. I don't ever want to see his face again. Y'know what? Actually, I do. Just so I can rip it to shreds. If he's good for one thing, it's making sure I never fall for another stupid trick ever again. I'm not that same young fool anymore — anyone who tries testing that will find out the hard way."
